Stéphanie drew this picture while listening to Radiohead, using automatic drawing. I then used the picture as inspiration to write this piece.

I am an audio-to-visual synesthete, and the picture somehow reflects a lot of what is going on in my mind while I listen to and make music. I see textures and colours of sounds, and this was simply a matter of translating the shapes with the sounds that correspond to my internal logic.

Music and sound has always been more about visual texture and shapes than about the things coming through my ears to me. I lean heavily on my internal concepts of texture when composing anything. I wouldn't be able to compose without it.
